first 5K

Well, ran my first 5K today!  Wow, what an experience.  I had a great time, ran well, and overall it's just been a great way to start off fall.  Well, yes I know fall actually started a couple weeks ago, but around here you'd never know it, until today...finally 70 degrees!!!  wooo hooooo.

Back to the run...I was running to benefit a great organization: The Bumblebee Fund.  You can read all about it here.  I was able to run the race in 24 min, 12 seconds!!  I surprised myself (in a good way), so yay for that!  Then, I headed to Publix & CVS to get some shopping done for the week.  I recapped CVS on my September recap post...yea, I know it's Oct. 1 today....but I'm trying to stay on top of the blog in Oct, so recap counts as September.  Isn't it great when you write a blog you get to make up your own rules!! :)  Anyhow, now I'm trying to get the time to do scenarios for CVS this week.  I know I'm going to get the revelon foundation.  It's $12.49, $4 ECB back, and I have a $5 MQ, so that's $3.50 for foundation--not too shabby.  I can't decide if I'll eat the other ECB's or what, look for more hopefully tonight or tomorrow!  Thanks for reading & sorry been so slack!
~Kristen~

SEPTEMBER recap!!--what a slacker!

What a slacker I've been about posting on the blog.  To be honest, with a crazy 2.5 running around, me substitute teaching, me trying to work out and coupon, it's just been a FULL plate!  So, sorry for the delay, but I'm still working on my $25 gift card challenge from CVS.  I'm excited because I've gotten so much stuff already, and have $14 left.  I've definitely been TRYING to keep up the coupon game, but life has been a little demanding, so without 100% devotion, I'm happy on what I've gotten.  Here's the recap below.  I'll start a new post for next weeks projected deals.  Happy couponing friends!
~Kristen~

CVS- 9/4 week

-CVS-
so I've taken the last few weeks off b/c there just hasn't been stellar deals at my CVS...but today--I'm baaaaack!!! Here's the first transaction on my next $20 gift card challenge.
2 jumbo packs of huggies diapers
2 skintimate shaving cream
1 carefree pads
2 hershey's air delights
1 milky way simply caramel
2 dove dark chocolate (4 pieces)

Total spent: $2.32, got 3 ECB back
**oops, make that $25 gift card challenge--DH put more on there than I thought! :) I have $22.68 left to spend!
Coupons I used: $3/15 baby purchase, free milky way CVS Q, bogo hershey's MQ, carefree pads $0.50 MQ, (2)$1/1 jumbo pack CVS Q, free pack of huggies MQ, $3/1 huggies MQ, (2) $1/1 skintimate CVS Q, (2) $1/1 skintimate MQ
**my total would've been $0.75 less, but I couldn't pass up the dove bars on clearance for 2/$0.75. I got ECBs for the hershey's air delight bar, carefree pads, and green bag tag

A lot of couponing friends have mentioned CVS has huggies wipes and CVS brand wipes on clearance.  I haven't been lucky enough to find them, but check your out, some have reported as low as $1.25 for a tub, combining that with a $0.50/1 MQ, makes it $0.75 for a tub of wipes!!  woo hoooooo

MIA- Kristen...where are you?!!?

Well, my summer has probably been as hectic as yours.  Here for this, there for that, husband off work, no real schedule....while all that is good and fun, I'm glad the school year is about to kick off and we can get a little more regimented around here.  I substitute teach (don't know if I mentioned that before), so with the school year, comes a little extra jingle jangle in our pocket, which we need! :)  I will also say that the coupons were better this past week & if you check out the preview site, looks like Sunday's Q's will be pretty good too.  Only 2 inserts, but that's alright!

So...I will have to say that couponing has taken a bit of a backseat lately, mainly because we've just been busy and the coupons have been crap in the paper, so I've been suffering a little burnout.  But....I always hear in the couponing world about these phantom diaper sales at CVS.  Where there will be pampers or huggies for 74% off!!!  that's right, I said 75% off!!  So....I was in CVS yesterday & I saw the ticket...pampers sensitive swaddlers for $2.75, $2.75!!!!  I have $2 MQ...OMG, heart attack!  Of course this was for the size 1 (my son is in a size 4), but hey, I may have another baby, and if not, I know PLENTY of preggo people I could pass these on to.  I was so beyond pumped.  I ended up getting 2 packages of the swaddlers (there were 3, but the cashier wanted one & I was nice...although this got me thinking it is probably why I never happen upon these types of sales!) and 1 package of size 4 (8.99 with a 3 ECB).  I paid with (2)$2/1 MQ, (1)$1.50/1 MQ, 6 ECB, $3, got back $4 ECB!! :)  I was pumped.  Anyways...hopefully I'll be better about posting regularly, but if you have CVS, stop in and see if you can get the same awesome deal!

coupons....so sad

Lately the coupons have just been blah.  Soooo sad.  I'm hoping we aren't seeing the end of couponing.  If you're just starting out, you may get burnt out quickly since it's been so slow, but hang in there!  I'm hoping August and back to school will encourage the companies to issue some better coupons, but the last couple weeks have been AWFUL!!!  Grocery prices are going up, up, up and I know we could all stand to save a little more.  Good luck in your adventure and if I see any stellar deals I'll be sure to post!  Nothing too exciting for me in the grocery store this week, but we're trying to manage.

Catching up....

Well, I was at the beach for 4th of July week!!  yay for vacation, so I'm behind, but I have a cute pic to show for it:

So...anyways, while at the beach, I did make a quick CVS run.  It wasn't as fabulous as I'd like b/c I had to get some 2 liter drinks, but it wasn't terrible.  I got 1 box of tampons, 3 toothbrushes, and (2)2 liter drinks and paid $2 and change.  I wish I remembered exactly, but I can't find the receipt.  When I get back again, I'll be able to figure out where I am on my $20 GC challenge.  I figure I have about $13 remaining.

Target has some great specials going on regarding school supplies.  I was able to get 4 sharpie markers and 2 packages of pens for $0.02.  I threw in some crayons (I'm a teacher at heart & just love school supply time) for my DS and am contemplating getting more in case I want to use some for gift bags later on in the year.  Rose Art were only $0.20 and since he's 2, those will do just great.  They had crayola for $0.40, but I'm pretty sure Wal-Mart marks them down to $0.25 at some point, so I'd hold out if you want crayolas.

Not much new to report on.  Had a blast at the beach with family & friends and now back to the grind.  Going to check out my grocery ads for the week & scan CVS.  Hoping next week's ad has more to offer than this past one...it was B-O-R-I-N-G!

I was so excited about CVS this week, here's what I got...yippeee!!!

Brilliant Tampons
Single serve Pringles
Pantene Shampoo
Pantene Shampoo
Huggies Jumbo pack
Huggies Jumbo pack
Total OOP = $0.19, $15.17 remaining on gift card
I used $1/1 brilliant MQ, $3/2 pantene MQ, (2)$2/1 huggies MQ, $1/1 pringles CVS Q, $2/1 pantene CVS Q, $3 CVS birthday coupon, $6.79 ECB, $4 ECB, $2 ECB, $6 ECB.
Got back $6 ECB

**I did this in two transactions.  The tampons & pringles on Monday (can't find receipt at the moment, so ECB usage may be a tad off) and the pantene & huggies on Thursday.  I hadn't planned to get the pantene, but a $2 CVS Q popped out of the magic machine and I had a $3/2 MQ, so it was basically free after ECB's.  I can't believe I could get all the above for $0.19.  I did end up burning $6.79 ECB (using them without getting any back), but I still have $6 ECB remaining, so I should be able to roll those pretty well for upcoming weeks.  My receipt says $15.17 remaining on gift card, which doesn't exactly add up according to prior receipts, but either way I've gotten a lot of good stuff for $4.83.

Here is my list to date for my $20 gift card challenge:

CVS June 19-25

Another GREAT week at CVS!!  I love this store sooooo much.  I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to get, and I had a raincheck for men's dove deodorant and my MQ's were expiring this week, so I knew I was going to scoop those up.  Well, this is what I got, and for some reason the register fairy blessed me again and I had a $0.00 OOP cost, meaning I didn't even pay tax!!  I have no idea how that happens, but it is so awesome to have them say, "you owe nothing" and walk out of the store with items I use!!  LOVE it.  So this is what I got:

I did everything in 1 transaction: 3 men's dove deodorant (raincheck)- $3, 1 single serve cheerios- $1, 1 huggies natural wipes- $3.29, 1 bliss dark chocolate candy- $5.99, 2 colgate toothpaste- $5.58

I may go back another day later in the week and see if there is more motrin PM to be had, the limit is 3, so I can get 2 more for $6 and get $6 ECB back.  Of course, I will roll my ECBs, using the $5.99 zyrtec ECB to pay for the 2 motrin, so really a $0.01 OOP, and $6 ECB back.  Like I said earlier, gotta love CVS!

CVS June 5-11

Well, back to the land of internet!  Our internet has been messed up all week & I've had to go online through the phone which is not very convenient.  On top of that, my printer (wireless) is no longer working, which is a HUGE bummer, since I love printing IP's.  Hopefully the hubs can get that back to working by the weekend.  I was soooo excited about CVS on Sunday and continuing my $20 challenge and then I could post (so sad) and now it's Wednesday, but I figure better late than never, so here it is:

Dinner tonight....

Thought I'd get a little random tonight, but I'm all excited for dinner.  I'm making the pioneer woman's chicken spaghetti and if you aren't familiar, you must check it out.  DELISH!  Not sure mine will look quite as fabulous, I did half the recipe, but I can't wait.  I also whipped up a batch of homemade brownies this afternoon, so I'm feeling like quite the good wife at the moment.  Hollar back at  me if you have any great recipes I should try, I'm always looking to spice up dinner!

~cheers~

CVS 5/22-5/28

CVS, oh how I've missed thee.  There hasn't been too much going on there that I've been looking forward to.  My husband bought me a $20 gift card to CVS for part of my mother's day gift & I'm up for another $20 challenge.  If you want to see what I got last time, check out my post here.  I do include tax because I figure, it's part of the "cost."  Although on blogs you will see items listed as "free" you always have to pay tax, so to make it easy on me, I'm using my gift card to pay tax as well.

Here's this week's purchase and below I'll do the breakdown.  To be fair, I have no clue why I wasn't charged tax today on nail polish, so my receipt is kinda weird, but I'll show you what I did & hopefully you'll have some good luck at your CVS as well!

Transaction 1:
3 purex laundry detergent, 1 revlon nail polish, 1 green bag tag: paid $1.47 OOP, received $1 ECB and $4 ECB back.  Used: $0.99 CVS Q, (3)$1/1 purex MQ, $1/1 revlon MQ, $5.54 ECB

Transaction 2:
1 revlon nailpolish: paid $0.00, received $4 ECB back.  Used $1/1 revlon MQ, $4 ECB

Transaction 3:
1 revlon nailpolish: paid $0.00, received $4 ECB back.  Used $1/1 revlon MQ, $4 ECB

In summary all three transactions: paid $1.47 OOP, saved $36.44.  I have $18.53 remaining on my gift card!!

Grocery Shopping....done!

I went to Publix & Bilo this morning and I have to say I am quite happy with the spending.
Publix- paid $17.41 OOP, saved $26.79
Bilo- paid $13.98 OOP, saved $19.62

We are going out of town for Memorial Day, so this should get us through the week with some pretty good meals.  So far on the menu: hotdogs, turkey sloppy joes, chicken casserole (not sure yet!), salad or grilled chicken salad and for Sunday lunch we had hotdogs and kraft dinner.  A college roommate of mine used to love this, so I served it one night for Keith when we were on a "poor man's meal" and he too loved it.  Basically just cut up hotdogs in kraft mac & cheese....doesn't get much easier than that.  I serve it with a side of broccoli.  Since I don't eat a lot of meat, I have the broccoli & mac & cheese and the boys get the hotdogs, mac & cheese, and a veggie!

Some of the best deals/prices from Publix-
cashed in my raincheck  for Bic Solei Razors, 2/$5.49, used (2)$3/1 MQs
Smart Balance Spread, 2/$3.50, used $1/2 MQ
Wishbone Italian Dressing: 2/$2.61, used (2)$1/1 MQ

produce deals:
grape tomatoes- $1.50/1
idaho potatoes- $2.99 for 3 lb bag

Best deals/prices from Bilo-
Mueller's Macaroni- $0.86/2
Surf Detergent- $6.38/2, used (2)$2/1 MQ

produce deals:
cantaloupe- $1.97 each
lettuce- $0.88 each
package of mini cucumbers- $2 each (can't wait for ours to start growing in our garden!)

Reese's Pieces Resealable Pouch

Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Pieces Resealable Pouch
Lately these little suckers appeared in my house and ahhhhhh.....devine!!  They are simply delicious.  I do not advise you to purchase unless you have an extreme amount of will power.  I consider myself to have fairly good will power & I just can't say no!  Luckily only 1/2 a bag of the reese's pieces are left, and then I will not buy any more.  Did you hear me??  I will not buy any more.  Well....until the next sale!! :)

I do want to try these, so they're probably next up!

I went to WAGS

Why oh why do I continue to try Walgreens?  I dislike Walgreens.  I always pay more OOP (out of pocket) than anywhere else, but relentlessly I try again.  Okay, today is the LAST day for a while, with the exception of if they have the diaps on sale because thanks to my transaction today, I now have a $3 RR to burn.  I didn't do terrible, but it wasn't great.  I got 2 old spice men's body wash, 1 gillette men's body wash, and one gillette men's deodorant for $4.59.  Not terrible, but not great and I just don't like the Walgreens vibe.  I wish CVS would have some good deals, I have ECB's to use & I really want to start my gift card challenge!!  Oh well, just wanted to chime in on what was happening around here and for those who do shop at Walgreens--keep up the good work.  I'm sure I'll try again, but currently I'm just trying to say no!

WAGS 5/15-5/21

I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to WAGS this week or not.  Every time I go, they are out of stuff and I'm just not comfortable shopping there since their rewards are always so weird, but here's my scenario if I do go.
Buy: 1 gillette deo, 1 gillette body wash, 2 old spice body washes
use- BO gillette wash GO deodorant free MQ, $2/1 gillette bodywash MQ, BOGO old spice bodywash MQ, $1/1 MQ
OOP should be $3.66+tax, get $3 RR back.

I may turn around and get Mach3 disposable razors, but depends on the cost.  They are BOGO 1/2 off.  I have (2) BOGO MQs and a (2)$4/2 MQ.  I would have to get 6 packages to use all of the coupons above.  So, if the cost  of the razors is $5, I would be paying $4.50 OOP after all my coupons, then I could use my $3 RR, and pay $1.50 for 6 packs.  If they are more than $5 a package, I probably won't do it.  I tried figuring this out on my own, so I'm not sure if it works.  If I try it & it does, I'll be sure to post back later! :)

CVS

So...CVS has been less than thrilling lately.  I'm so disappointed, especially since I'm always singing their praises!  haha.  My husband bought  me a $20 gift card to CVS as part of my mother's day gift & I've been dying to use it.  I'm doing a self-imposed $20 challenge to see how much I can get for the gift card.  I include tax b/c well, it's my challenge & no one else is participating, so tax is a moot point.  I may get it under way next week, although when I glanced through next week didn't look much better.  :(

If you are interested, here is what I got when I did my last $20 challenge.  I love challenges & was pretty proud of myself:

Oral-B battery operated toothbrush
Oral-B battery operated toothbrush
Gillette Fusion Razor

Crest Pro-Health toothpaste

Always pads
Wet Jet refill

Revlon eye shadow
Revlon nail polish

1 Edge shaving gel
1 PAAS egg coloring kit
1 big bottle of hand sanitizer

1 Blink Tears

2 Biore Facial Cleansers
1 silly bands package

2 Biore Facial Cleansers

On my last 2 biore, I had $1.23 on the gift card and then paid $4.62 OOP....so I guess I got 2.5 biore on my gift card, not really 4! :)

Target

Target put up some great coupons yesterday, go check them out at www.totallytarget.com.  I know you can get free pain reliever (up & up) and cheap feminine products (up & up)...she matches it all up for ya, so just go take a look! :)  There are several other deals for you to score some great savings.

Publix 5/15

There are a few publix freebies and close to freebies I thought I'd let everyone know about.
Travel band aids- $0.79, I had a $0.50/1 MQ, used 6 of them so got $1.80 overage towards other items.
Mahatma Rice- $0.89, I have a few $0.50/1 MQ's, which also give you overage.  I only used 1 this visit.
Yoplait kids yogurt (Dora, Cars, Cinderella)- $4/2, there's a publix $2/2 MQ and you can also use (2)$0.50/1 MQ, making this a freebie! :)
Fiber One yogurt- $2.50/1, there's a publix coupon for $2/2 and you can pair it with a $0.50 MQ, making it $1 for (2)4 packs.
Vlasic pickles- $2.89/2, $0.55 publix coupon (spring saver booklet) and a $0.55 MQ IP, making it $0.35 per jar of pickles

I had a good publix trip, spend $28 and saved $36.  I still have to buy milk and plan to head to Ingles to pick up some boneless skinless chicken ($1.99/lb!).

Huggies Little Swimmers

I've been a little MIA.  Mother's Day was this past week & I'm working all week, so a bit busy.  But...I saw this on hip2save and had to share.  I hope I can get out to TRU and pick some up before they're all gone!   Swim season is here people.

Little Swimmers are on an unadvertised sale for $6.99 at Toys R Us this week! This is a great sale price considering these are regularly priced around $9.99 at most stores. And you can sweeten this deal even further by using a wonderful manufacturer’s coupon.
*Huggies Little Swimmers 10 to 12 ct $6.99
Use the $2/1 coupon found in the 4/17 SS (Exp. 5/14!)
Final cost as low as $4.99!

CVS plan for May 8 week

It's time to start getting ready for next week's shopping.  CVS doesn't look all that exciting to me, but it will depend on the coupons in Sunday's paper (if there are any!).
Freebies this week:
carefree pantiliners- $0.99, use $1 MQ (I checked my stash & only had a $0.50 MQ)
similac ready feed formula- $4.99, use $5 MQ

Some other deals that may be good depending on the coupons you have:
Covergirl makeup- get $3 ECB when you buy $10 (on iheartcvs.com, she says there will be a $3/10 CVS Q and you can pair it with MQ's for more savings!)
Select Cereals- $1.97
Xtra Laundry detergent- $1.49 (don't know if there's MQ out there or not, haven't checked yet!)

I plan to get the pantiliners, possibly the covergirl (depending on what the have--I need some powder), and if the glade includes the candles, I'll do that since I have a free MQ! :)  Check back early next week to see what I got!

As always, check out www.iheartcvs.com for additional information...love her site!

May 1-7 shopping

I'm doing an all-in-one post on super shopping this week.

CVS
CVS shopping- I got all the above for $1.18 and got $5.54 ECB's back.  How you ask?
2 colgate max fresh toothpaste at $2.77, (2) $0.75 MQ
2 dove chocolate bars at $1.10, (1) $0.75/2 MQ
3 ivory soaps at 99 cents, (3) $1/1  MQ
used $5 ECB, paid $1.18 and got $5.77 ECB for next time! :)

WAGS
WAGS- 4 right guard bodywashes and 2 newspapers for $3.03!

Transaction 1- bought 2 papers ($0.99 ea) and 2 rightguard ($4.99/2), used BOGO right guard coupon, paid $2.30 OOP
Transaction 2- bought 2 right guard bodywashes ($4.99/2), used BOGO right guard coupon, paid $0.79 OOP.

I realize the two transactions don't exactly add up.  The walgreens ad said right guard body wash was BOGO this week--buy 1 for $4.99 & the other is free, the in-store tag said 2/$4.99.  So...when she rang the bodywash up, the first one scanned $4.50, the next one $0.49.  For the first transaction, she put the BOGO Q in as $4.99 and for the second one she put it in as $4.50.   Just one more wacky thing about WAGS!

Last brag...PUBLIX!  I have no picture.  But I got an awesome deal on tostitos chips, tostitos salsa, and pepsi max.
(3) bags of family size tostitos: $2.50 ea
(3) jars of tostito salsa: $2.50 ea
(3) pepsi max drinks: $1.67 ea

used (3)$1/1 bags of tositos, used (3) free pepsi max when you buy a bag of tositos, used (3) $1/1 tostitos salsa when you buy tostitos chips.  whew......  total OOP- $8.99!!!!  WOW!

May 1 Week

I was so excited to wake up to find my paper full of 5 coupon inserts!!!  woo-hooo.  I had to run out and buy 2 more papers.  Hopefully this will make up for the bust of coupons we got a few weeks ago.  I'm headed out to Publix in a few minutes without much of a plan---typically NOT a good idea, but last week was the same deals as this week, so I kinda know what to expect.

Some freebies I'm taking advantage of this week:

Publix- Bic Soleil Razors- $2.75 each, $3 MQ in today's paper!

WAGS- Right Guard body wash on sale bogo, BOGO MQ in today's paper!

CVS- Colgate Toothpaste $2.77, get $2.77 ECB, also $0.75 MQ in today's paper!
Ivory bar soap $.99, $1/any ivory bar soap in paper today!!

CVS 4/24 Week

This week CVS was semi-lame.  I went to three stores, and all of them were out of the men's dove deodorant, so I got a rain check for five of them.  I only have 1 coupon, but figure by the time they are restocked, I may have a few more.  Tricky, tricky...I know!

So this week, I ended up getting Blink eye drops, 4 Biore facial cleansers, and a package of silly bands (for part of a birthday gift)....I used $16.05 total in ECBs (I rolled the Blink ones, doing seperate transactions), spent $6.38 total OOP, and got $5 ECBs back.  It wasn't the best week, but I've been working on a personal $20 gift card challenge, so it was weird to try to finish it out and still end up with ECBs....y'all know I love to roll 'em! ;)

This is what my transactions looked like:
#1- Blink Tear drops: $7.99, used $7.30 ECB, OOP- $0.87, got $8.99 ECB back
#2- (2) Biore Facial Cleansers, silly bands: $14 + $0.75 = $14.75, used $7MQ, $7.75 ECB (they adjusted down from $7.99), OOP- $0.89
#3- (2) Biore Facial Cleansers: $14, used $7.99 MQ (cashier gave regular price off bogo q), $1 ECB, paid $4.62 OOP, got 5 ECB back

**I would have done 2 transactions, but my store only had 2 biore cleansers, so I had to go to another.  whew...this was a complicated post, but promise it wasn't very complicated.  Next week, I'll be starting with $5 ECBs.  I'm about to preview the ad and make a plan...check back in! :)

Publix 4/24

Publix was pretty good this week & I was happy to have saved 70% total when I combined my grocery receipt with my razors.  They were out of razors on the shelf, when I went to get a raincheck, they told me they were in the back, so I waited and we rang them up.  It's by far my best receipt....my total was -$0.27...yep, you read that right, they gave me 27 cents to take home 3 packages of razors.  EXCITING!

Things I thought I got a good deal on were: nature valley granola bars for $1 (priced at $1.99 with a $0.50  doubled MQ) and pull-ups at $9.79 with a $3 Publix Q and a $1.50/1 MQ.  The best deal of all of course was the razors: $2.75 each with a $3/1 MQ!!  woot, woot!

For a more detailed view of the receipt....

CVS 4/24-4/30 Scenario

CVS has a few good deals this week, nothing to die for in my opinion.  Two of the best this week are Blink Tears for $7.99, get $7.99 ECB and Dove Men's Deodorant priced at 99 cents each.

I plan to get 1 of the Dove Men's Deodorant with a $1/1 MQ, making it free.

My other purchases depend on availability and if I can find a peelie MQ for the Blink Tears.  If I can find a Blink Tears with the $4/1 peelie on it, then I will use $4 ECB, making it free and get $7.99 ECB back.  I also saw that there was a biore, jergens, curel deal: spend $15, get $5 ECB, I have a BOGO biore MQ, which would make it $7+ for 2 biore face wash, I'm still debating that purchase as well, not sure if two at $7 will produce ECB's.  I've also wanted to try Jergens Body Glow, but not sure it is worth $8, I have a $1 MQ, but that's still pretty pricey in my opinion! :)  If you want to check out all the matchups, visit, www.iheartcvs.com, love her.

So, I'm for sure getting my Dove Deodorant, the other...well, you'll just have to wait & see!

Toys R Us

Today, I swung by Toys R Us.  I was able to pick up two Mr.Potato head's and 2 tubes of orajel toddler toothpaste for $8!!!  The Mr. Potato Head deal is going on until tomorrow.  I saw it posted, here, but basically they are on sale for $3.99 and you can print a $2 off coupon here, thus making it $1.99 each.  Chase will be getting one from the Easter bunny and the other will be put in my gift box, then donated if I don't have anyone to give to it too.   I also had 2, $1 orajel MQ and we are in need of some toothpaste, so cha-ching! :)

Happy Easter everyone!

~VEGAS~

Just got back from Vegas today and all I can say is T-I-R-E-D!!  whew.  Although Vegas didn't and doesn't really fall in line with couponing, we did scoop up a 2 for 1 coupon for a lunch buffet and a happy hour menu at a swanky little place.  It was such a fun time, it'll probably take me a few days to recover! :)

I heard on my BBC coupon group (coupon newbies) that Target had a certain graco swing (brown cow or moo cow--don't remember exactly) marked for $4.99!!  I had to swing by and check.  My target did have it in stock...2 actually, but ours rang up $104.99, pretty good price if you need a baby swing, I was just hoping to score one for next to nothing to use as a gift! :)  I'm going to go back on and see if the OP meant $104.  I can't imagine a full size swing really ringing in at $4.99!!  I will try to catch up next week, but with my vacation and Easter this weekend, couponing has slid behind for next week.  I figure that's okay because holidays are usually slow weeks anyways---well, unless you want to seek out clearanced decor or candy.  Hope everyone has a great Easter.

CVS epic FAIL!! 4/17-4/23

Well, my CVS this week was a D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R!!!  The grand scheme wasn't sooo bad, but it was frustrating as all in the moment.  I also had a picture to upload, but camera is being weird, so I can't upload it.  >:(  Anyhow, this is what I got:

1, 8.75 oz hand sanitizer (used free 8.75 oz hand sanitizer CVS Q)
3 packages of coke product
1 edge shaving gel (used 55 cent MQ)
1 PAAS easter egg decorating kit
Used, 14.74 ECB, paid $1.80, got $7.30 ECB's

I'm off for the week...it's Spring Break Baby!!!  I'm excited, yet anxious.  First big vacation without my little man.  I know he'll be great and all will be fine.  He's actually been excited when I've told him he's going on vacation to his grandparents for a few nights.  Not sure how much he understands, as he is 2, but I'm hoping all will go well and I can relax and enjoy the next few days in Las Vegas!!

CVS 4/17-4/23

It's time to start planning for next week's CVS trip.  There are a few freebies, so it's a good time for newbies to jump on board.

If you have no ECB's to start with here are a few transactions you can start with:
Transaction 1- buy 1 package of easter grass ($0.99) and 1 green bag tag ($0.99), pay $1.98, get $1.98 ECB back
Transaction 2- buy 1 package of PAAS egg decorating kit ($1.99), use $1.98 ECB pay $0.01, get $1.98 to use next time! :)  (don't forget to scan your green bag tag from previous transaction)  you can also throw in some reach toothpaste ($0.99) if you have $1/1 coupon, then your OOP would be $0.02.

Now you ask...what is a green bag tag?  A green bag tag is a way to earn free ECBs from CVS, and us couponers LOVE free stuff!!!  The intent is to bring a reusable bag to the store and scan your green bag tag when you check out.  Every 4th visit (4th scan of the green bag tag) earns you $1 ECB.  You can only scan your green bag tag 1x per day.
Also, remember CVS tracks your spending, savings, and issues ECB's through their rewards card.  Be sure to sign up for one before making any purchases!!!

I have some ECBs built up, so I'm looking at:
Transaction 1- edge shaving gel ($3.99) use 55 cent MQ, get $2.30 ECB and (3)12 packs of coke ($11), get $3 ECB back.  use $14 ECB, pay $0.30 OOP, get $5.30 ECB
Transaction 2- get PAAS decorating kit ($1.99), get $1.99 ECB, I will use $1.99 ECB, pay $0.00 OOP, get $1.99 ECB back.
I may also do the MARS Easter candy deal depending on product availability: 2 MARS candies for $1, I have 2($1/2 MARS), so I can get 4 for free.

To find out more about cvs and upcoming deals, check out http://www.iheartcvs.com/, I love her blog, it's great!

CVS 4/10-4/16

For those looking to get started this week at CVS here are some of the best deals.  First you can go here on facebook for a free bottle of antibacterial gel.

Most of the other freebies for this week were only scheduled for Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday,  so they won't be offered for the rest of the week. :(

CVS

I was able to get out to CVS today.  Nothing too exciting, but I did get some Easter basket goodies:
1 bottle miracle bubbles
1 russel stover's marshmallow egg
1 package of mentos gum.
I used a $0.35/1 mentos MQ, $3 ECB, spent $0.50 out of pocket(OOP) and got $2.73 ECB back to use on a future purchase.

Welcome

I'd like to welcome you to the wonderful world of coupons.  I decided to start this blog because couponing has literally changed my life.  I love playing the coupon game and better yet, I love seeing all the savings--my husband particularly enjoys this area!  I have used coupons in the past, but over the last few months I've really learned a lot about how to get the most bang for my buck and I love passing information on.  If you are interested in learning how to use your coupons better and get more and more items for free or close to free, then you've come to the right  place.
